Night Diving & How To Choose A Torch
Night Diving & How To Choose A Torch
A dive torch is an essential piece of scuba diving gear that helps ensure your safety underwater. Picking the right one for you can take a bit of time and consideration. Diving torches help you underwater, especially in low light conditions. Most modern torches are LED. The old style halogen torches generally don't provide that competitive level of brightness. Now, for most recreational diving, you're looking at small torches. As technology gets better, the newer torches become very, very bright for very small compact packages.

How To Equalise Properly Many divers experience issues while trying to equalise - which is a vital part of ascending and descending when you're diving. Here are some tips on how to equalise properly during a dive. Don’t Rush When Descending Before you descend, make sure that when you swallow you hear a “pop” or “click” in both ears, meaning that your eustachian tubes are open. When you're equal...

How To Choose & Prepare Dive Masks
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.3 года назад
How to prepare a new dive mask? Step 1: Use a pre-cleaning agent. One common issue that a lot of people experience when they recently purchase a dive mask is fogging up. This is because when a mask is manufactured, the manufacturers will put a silicon coating on the inside and outside of the lens. If you don’t clean your mask properly, the heat transfer between your face oil and the mask will c...
How To Clean & Pack Down Scuba Gear
Просмотров 18 тыс.3 года назад
Here’s how to clean and pack down your scuba gear. Step 1: Turn off the air. The first thing you want to do is to turn off your air. Turn the valve all the way off and depressurise the lines. It doesn't matter which regulator you push, it's going to take the air out of the lines, which will then make it possible for you to remove the regulator from the cylinder. You'll notice all the hoses have...

Perfect, thank you!
Why on earth they use 304 stainless steel for the blade that's absolutely not suitable for marine use as opposed to 316 that's far superior???? Only one thing comes to my mind - if not maintained after each use rusty knife quickly going into bin in order to buy another one! Make sure you wash both the knife and sheath (most people forget salt water stays inside and corrode blade) throughly then apply silicone grease. "However, 304 stainless steel does have one weakness, and that is it does not perform well in chloride environments, in particular, seawater. It is susceptible to corrosion in these cases. If marine corrosion is a major concern, a better choice would be 316 stainless steel, which has 2 percent molybdenum added to it." What a waste of material... am still looking for a dive knife that will do its job and last long...
I decided to get the Aqualung Squeeze Titanium Blade although wish they made these with blunt tip... only like this one, 304 SS version has it which is a shame cause don't want SS at all but want a blunt tip so it's an unwanted compromise for me.
Thanks, wanted to get started with scuba diving for a long time now, this really helped out a lot!
I had the HD200 and sold it. The large air cell has a large airless gap at the bottom due to the shape of it. This sacrificed my trim. I bought a donut style air cell and never looked back. For the ultimate trim and minimum bulk just get a plate and some webbing.
Good stuff mate. Thx for the heads up 👍🏽
I recommend you always purge the 2nd stage before simply sucking on it. A friend blew a front tooth out by not firstly purging the reg.
Great info man, thanks for taking the time to make this! Hope to come by your shop if I ever get to visit your lovely country!
Just an addition to closing the valve as you leave your gear or for transport, Let the pressure off of the reg set so you SEE the air is turned off.
Very helpful. Thanks mate!
Good refresher. Thanks!
The ol' reach-around...
❤
You're Australian 🐨🦘🪃🇦🇺
Inhales on the surface do not assure that the valve is fully opened.
Why not?
Check ur O ring(s)
superb instruction ---clear and concise big TY from the uk
Very Nice! thanks!
Let's say the boat leaves you and your friend. Both have the rear inflation bcd's. Will they get so tired of trying to stay upright they'll tire out ending up face down?
If you're having trouble staying upright and you're going to be there for a while I imagine you could unclip from the bcd and adjust your position more dramatically. Would still be able to keep your regulator in while hanging onto the BCD like it's a float or laying belly down on top of it.
@atomic_wait Appreciate your response. Just tried one at the dive shop.. they let me get in the pool. There's maybe a 5-10% difference in jacket vs back inflated as far as the pushing you forward goes. It's really barely noticeable. I bought one. Cheers mate! 🍻
@@waldo2635 Glad to hear it! Do you get a sense of if back inflation is easier to pack flat in luggage?
@atomic_wait It will take up half the space my jacket took and probably weigh half as much. Once it's dry from diving in a pool today I'm curious to see the weight difference. It will dry faster than a jacket too.
Very helpful. I do have one confusion though. What is the purpose of turning the task valve back off during transport/waiting for the dive?
Great video demo. Very much appreciated
Nice pleace ...awesome 👌
Absurd. Get a backplate and wing or sidemount. All these goofy BCs have too many pockets and d-rings.
This is the worst description of determining the correct weight and conducting a weight buoyancy test I have ever seen. They are forgetting to describe the equipment you should have on and if the BC should be fully inflated, deflated etc. This video is a disservice to a novice diver.
And nothing is mentioned about how your mask and body position should change, depending on how much of a breath you have inhaled and held: 80%, 50%, 20%.
Very nice review. Thanks!
Step one…get rid of the yellow death hose and strap a 7’ hose onto the rig…learn to long hose primary donate if you really want to up the safety level of your diving
Super clear - thanks!
Great info
Great job everyone!
Never seen any reference to rinsing Aqualung ACD regs with the cap OFF (including AL's user manuals)...unless you have a citation to a source for this, I'm calling foul 🤔
Thanks you sir!
Great presentation. Very helpful. Thank you Jeremy.
No the octopus doesn't need to be on the right side. Far from it
Regs on the right side LPI & SPG on left. (LPI fits on left side of jacket)
As an instructor, in situations where I give air to one of my dive group by my octopus, i experienced it to be a lot easier to have the octopus hose on the LEFT side, the hose will less get twisted. So there is NO fixe rule what side the octopus should be. You set up the gear by experience. Your dive buddy will notice anyway as you guys do a pre-dive buddy check, right? 😊
expensive pleasure(((
Very detailed and well structured thank you ❤️
Thank you Emir! 🙂
Thanks
Two items, 1 The hard sole boot is better as it supports the fin strap as I have used soft boots and the fin strap has worked down and my fin has come off, 2 the zipperless boots are great to get on, a bugger to get off as they tend to suck to your feet.
pretty good video
Maybe..or THE best instruction for refresher. 9 THANK YOU!!
Thank you Ivan! 🙂
I have a feeling that if you don’t know how to dump air from your BCD you probably should not be certified. 🤷♂️
I'm a bit confused by this video. Presumably, when you say jump in the pool with no gear, mask and snorkel you need to weight yourself UNTIL the water level is halfway up your mask? Otherwise, what is it telling you? BUT if you do it with no kit won't you be overweighted with a cylinder (Steel one at least)? I know I am... If I jump in the pool with no kit on I would need weight to sink to that level, but with a 12L cylinder on I'm very negatively buoyant in pool water.
I have been looking for this explanation/advice for the last hour. Thank you. The pocket on the M/L Frog Plus is comfy, but my boot goes all the way in. Just ordered a smaller size. Thanks for the help. 🥳
Great, thanks!
Just how much air trouble do you have with the Hollis HD200 ? I’m leaning heavily toward it
None! It’s construction is far better than the others as well. Do yourself a solid and get it if you haven’t already.
Thank you so much for this video! I just got back from a diving trip and was not sure how to clean my BCD. Your instructions were so easy to follow.
Handy tips thanks
Do you sell?
I wonder how the light temperature affects the vision under water. 6500K is a cold white, where 3000K is yellow. I would like to know if the yellow light would make the colors seem more natural because reds & yellows don’t travel deeper? What Kelvin do you recommend for a dive torch? Thank you.
2 fingers going in there….that’s what … eh … never mind.
great refresher, going tomorrow! thanks
im passing a scuba diving exam!
